Housing is key to economic revival ‘from bricklayers to For Sale sign erectors’ (Glasgow Estate Agents Tips)

Housing minister Chris Pincher has revealed that the sector is at the heart of the government’s plans to revive the economy once the pandemic has passed.
The minister made his comments during an Inside Housing webinar on Friday during the Digital Housing Week conference that is normally a traditional gathering of the industry.
During the presentation he said the government should expect bold action to make the home buying and selling process easier, and that technology will play a central in this.
He also said the housing sector is going to be central to the UK achieving a swift economic recovery because, when the government boosts housing it boosts the whole economy.
“That is why re-starting the housing market was one of the first things we did – every 100,000 homes the UK builds adds 1% to our GDP,” he said.
“Remember that from end-to-end the sector employs 2.3 million people from bricklayers and carpenters working in construction right down to the people who put up the for sale signs outside people’s homes.
“We need to ensure that we are supporting the sector as much as we can.”
Pincher also talked about a theme familiar to anyone who listens regularly to Ministerial keynotes speeches, saying he wanted to see proptech play a key part in getting Britain building and moving home again.
“This is an important moment for all of us to put our shoulder to the wheel, get behind the housing sector in all its aspects,” he said. “We will build a better Britain out of this pandemic.”
