A service offering property valuations to vendors and sellers has launched that promises to help them to ‘credibly challenge an estate agent’s valuation’ and give the market more transparency, all for free.
Called Swirb, it claims to be independent of any industry ties and will not be seeking to generate any revenues from estate agents, and says its unique algorithm will give members of the public information normally only available to agents.
Its service offers home movers detailed reports on a property’s value and the local area similar in many ways to Rightmove Plus market reports, as well as a search engine to find the most discounted properties in an area.
Swirb says it is to reveal more tools and services later this year, and has also launched a housing market consultancy.

“For far too long people have been forced to make the most important financial decision of their life with less information than they would have if buying a washing machine or booking a flight,” says former banker and interim CEO Aaron Robinson.
“As of today, that will change, as we make our data and insights available to everyone
“Of course, estate agents and mortgage lenders have a huge amount of information on property in a particular area which is not available to Joe Blogs looking to buy their first house.
“With the SwirbVal for the first time you have an independent estimated market value for a home, calculated using a proprietary valuation algorithm, so you don’t only have to rely on the agents’ asking price or a banks valuation.”
