Exiting Rightmove agents share details of ‘bland’ emails sent urging them not to leave (Glasgow Estate Agents Tips)

New Tip: Exiting Rightmove agents share details of ‘bland’ emails sent urging them not to leave
Shared By Glasgow Estate Agents

Dozens of estate agents were busy yesterday sharing details of the impersonal emails they’ve been sent by their Rightmove account managers following their decision to quit the portal.

Many claim to have been shocked by the template emails sent to them, often after weeks of telephone calls and many years of subscribing to the portal.

The most high profile of these is London agent Kristjan Byfield, who came off the portal yesterday and who has been one of its most reasonable critics.

Yesterday he was sent the same email as other agents twice. Afterwards he said to his followers on Twitter: “Are you kidding me?! Our Rightmove account manager still thinks that the best way to get me back is to send generic, bland emails like this.

“After sending him a link to my open letter and my five responses to previous emails making our position abundantly clear [it appears] nothing has been learned. Nothing!”.

Byfield is referring to an open letter he published on March 27th in which he set out the reasons why he had used Rightmove in the past, but also why he had decided to quit, including the portal’s often uncompromising negotiating position on its annual fee hikes.

“Their position was simple – either pay the increase, cut your package or leave,” he said at the time.

Another agent, who was today sent an almost identical email about his impending last day on the portal, was sent this email:

Good morning David,

I’m writing to remind you that your Rightmove membership is set to expire today.

I understand there are many more important things happening for you at the moment, but I wanted to get in touch to see if there’s anything we can do to support you.

As you may know, the 75% discount applied to your Rightmove bill that you received starting from 1 April is set to continue for a further three months to ease some of the pressure you’re currently facing and so that you can continue to advertise your clients’ properties on Rightmove.

If you wish to talk about this please let me know.

If we don’t hear from you before 4:30pm today, your membership will expire on 30th April 2020.

If you feel unable to continue with your Rightmove membership at this time, we’d be happy to speak to you at any point in the future to see if we can be of help.

Above everything else, we wish you the best and we hope you, your family and your team are safe and well.

Thank you,

PS If you would like to continue with your Rightmove membership, we’d like to make it as easy as possible for you. Click this link before 4:30pm today and login to the Rightmove Hub to let us know you’d like to stay. If you don’t already have a Rightmove Hub login, you can create one. Of course, you can always give me a call or let me know a good time to call you. Alternatively, you can simply reply to this email.
